State Disability Authorities

Disability Services Queensland (DSQ) was established in December 1999 to provide a strong focus on disability across Queensland Government. It replaced the former disability program that was part of Families, Youth and Community Care Queensland. DSQ is the first disability focused department in Queensland.
QCIDD aims to improve the health and well-being of the adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live in Queensland. This is achieved through clinical practice, education, research and advocacy.

The primary focus of the Disability Services Commission is to make a positive difference to the lives of people with disabilities, their families and carers.
One in five Western Australians has a disability and their rights are protected by laws that ensure they have the same opportunities and choices and access to services and facilities as the rest of the community.
The role and responsibility of Disability ACT is to plan, develop strategic policy, allocate funding and provide and monitor services for people with disability in the ACT and the families that care for them.
The Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care is one of the largest human services organisations in NSW. They provide support and services to more than 1 million older people, people with disabilities and their carers in NSW. They are committed to ensuring that older people, people with disabilities and their carers are valued, lead independent lives and have the opportunity to participate fully in community life.
The Department for Families and Communities is committed to promoting equal opportunity for people with disabilities and to encourage the development of responsive services to support them to achieve independent living, self-sufficiency, and inclusion and integration into all aspects of society.

Disability Services is a division of the Department of Human Services. Our role is to fund agencies to provide direct continuing care and support for people with intellectual, physical, sensory and neurological disabilities and acquired brain injury in Victoria. The Department also directly provides some continuing care and support services for people with intellectual disabilities.

Department of Health and Human Services aims to deliver a range of services from accommodation to information for the health and well being of people with disabilities in Tasmania.
The Disability Services program is made up of several teams that focus on delivering the following services through the regional offices:
Information and Education ..... Respite
Short Term Support ..... Service Coordination
Resource Support ..... Day Options ..... Residential
The Carers Alliance is a new Federal political party formed to bring the issues affecting family carers onto the political agenda. There are 2.6 million carers in Australia who care for loved ones who may be disabled, suffer from mental or chronic illness, or from the conditions associated with age or frailty. The Association for Children with a Disability NSW provides information and support to parents and families who have a child or young adult with any type of disability or developmental delay across NSW.
Parents run the Association, so they know what it’s like to have a child with a disability. They understand issues from a parent and family perspective.
ACD NSW seeks to give strength to the voice of families caring for a child with a disability.
In other wealthy countries, people with disabilities have a legal right to the equipment, therapy and basic support services they need for daily living.
Not in Australia.
Families continue to struggle to provide constant loving care without support or genuine opportunities because the system is built around available “services”, not what people with disabilities actually need.
